This beautiful crystalline glazed vase stands about 8 inches tall and is about 5 inches at the widest point. The crystalline glaze has produced a rich amber background with distinct separate crystals that have formed around the body of the vase. It was hand thrown on the potters wheel using pure porcelain clay before being trimmed and then fired twice to very high temperatures. It has a simple classic shape with a narrow neck which, when combined with the crystal growth, has produced and elegant piece of ceramic art.

Crystalline ceramics are very hard to produce with many, many failures but when they turn out like this the effort is justified. Each piece has been through at least 10 separate process to achieve the end result you can see which is why very few potters specialise in this type of glazing. It would make a functional flower vase or a stand alone piece of ceramic art. Thank you for reading.
