This tall narrow necked bottle vase stands about 14 inches tall and was hand thrown on the potters wheel using porcelain clay. The crystalline glaze used on this piece is my own formulation and has produced gold coloured crystals on a greyish background creating a cloud like effect which enhances the shape of the vase. The gold crystals you can see are not an added decoration but have formed naturally in the surface of the glaze during the firing process and are completely unique.
Crystalline glazes are tricky to produce and often don't produce the crystals you want resulting in a high degree of failure. Thats the main reason many potters won't use this technique but for me the excitement when the process does work is worth all the effort. It makes each piece entirely unique and more a work of art than a simple functional creation. 
This vase has a dynamism which would make it the perfect centre piece in any room and a very individual gift for any occasion. Thank you for reading.
